About Us

We are a shoe repair shop in Louisville, Kentucky, working on footwear and leather goods since 2006. Our online store at https://holidaymanorshoe.com sells one thing: men’s leather dress shoes.

1. Two Decades of Working Out What Failed

How far can a pair of shoes go before they are finished? Most of the pairs handed across our counter still have years left in them. A heel goes crooked, a sole thins out under the ball of the foot, a welt loosens at the toe. One part wears faster than the rest, and the rest is usually fine.

Working that out, deciding which part failed and whether it can be rebuilt, has been our job here since 2006. Shoes and boots are the bulk of it. Handbags, luggage, belts and watch straps make up much of the remainder. Some jobs are finished in an afternoon and some take a week, because a repair that is hurried shows in the finished piece.

2. What Guides the Work

Take enough shoes apart and certain things stop being a matter of opinion. The same judgments we apply at the bench decide what goes into the online store.

  • Construction before appearance. A stitched or welted sole can be replaced two or three times across the life of a shoe. A sole bonded to a foam midsole cannot, whatever it cost when new.
  • Leather that ages rather than fails. Leather that has been conditioned takes a polish decades in. Leather left to dry out never quite comes back, and no repair fully reverses it.
  • Structure where the foot needs it. Heel counters collapse, linings wear through at almost the same spot on every pair, and a toe box tells us how its owner walks. None of that shows on a shop floor. It shows from this side of the trade.

3. The Shoes We Ship

Our online range grew out of that experience, and it is narrow on purpose: men’s leather dress shoes, and nothing else. What we look at when a pair is added is what we look at when someone hands us a shoe to fix. How the sole is attached, how the upper is stitched, and whether the pair could still be worth repairing several years from now.

Everything on the site is ready-made stock, held here and packed here. Orders are dispatched from Louisville, and the same people who answer email about a repair answer email about an order.

4. Operational Commitments

These are the terms every order is handled under. They are the same figures published on our policy pages and the same figures declared to Google Merchant Center.

5. Buying Dress Shoes You Have Not Tried On

Fit is the difficulty, and pretending otherwise would not help anyone. Sizing runs differently between makers, a shoe that fits in one last can be a half size out in another, and the width matters as much as the length. Screens flatten color as well, so a brown that reads warm on a listing can arrive cooler than expected.

What we do about it is practical rather than reassuring. Every order ships tracked. If the fit is wrong, tell us within 30 days and we email a prepaid label the same day or the next one, and you are not asked to justify the decision. A reason helps us decide what to stock next, but it is not a condition of the return. Try a pair indoors on carpet, and you stay well inside what we can accept back.
